NFL Plans To Contact Bills About Russ Brandon Resignation

A discussion about Brandon's exit will take place in the next few days between the NFL and the BillsGetty Images

The NFL "plans to contact" the Bills regarding President Russ Brandon's "abrupt resignation amid allegations he had an inappropriate relationship with a female employee," according to John Wawrow of the AP. The league in a statement said it "will discuss the matter with the Bills and 'make a decision in the next few days about what, if any, further steps we will take.'" NHL Senior VP/Communications Gary Meagher said that the league "determined Brandon's resignation is 'appropriately a club matter' after consulting with Sabres officials" (AP, 5/3). In Buffalo, Vic Carucci in a front-page piece cites sources as saying that Terry and Kim Pegula "turned to attorneys in Pittsburgh to conduct the investigation" that helped lead to Brandon's exit. Having investigations handled by outside attorneys is "not uncommon in the business world, but the situation was particularly sensitive in this case." Gregg Brandon, Russ’ brother, is Pegula Sports & Entertainment Exec VP & General Counsel. A source said that Gregg Brandon is "expected to remain with the organization" (BUFFALO NEWS, 5/4).
