NBA 2K League Signs HyperX As Official Headset For First Season

The NBA 2K League has signed video game peripheral company HyperX as the official gaming headset for its inaugural season that starts tomorrow. As part of the deal, HyperX equipment will be used by players and commentators in all live gameplay, and the brand will receive prominent branding throughout the NBA 2K League Studio powered by Intel and will activate via promotions on the league’s social channels. The 2K League launches tomorrow with the first of three regular-season tournaments (Ben Fischer, Staff Writer).

IT'S IN THE GAME: In Philadelphia, Connor Smith noted the 76ers Gaming Club is "starting to generate revenue through sponsorships" after partnering with West Hempstead, N.Y.-based Raynor Group as its "official gaming chair provider." Raynor "made Sixers-branded chairs just for players that feature Outlast cooling materials." The firm "plans to sell those same gaming chairs without the Sixers brand to the public for $299 this summer through its new Raynor Gaming brand." Raynor Group "makes office chairs and uses the slogan 'we stand for sitting.'" Raynor Group President Marc Fries said that execs "decided to launch the new brand to the public after they were approached by the Sixers to make chairs for the team" (PHILLY.com, 4/27).

FOOD FOR THOUGHT: Monumental Sports & Entertainment named grocer Giant Food as the official grocer and Peapod as the official online grocery delivery service for Wizards District Gaming. Giant Food's logo will be featured on in-game on-court signage, around player accounts and at the Wizards District Gaming Practice Facility. Giant will be highlighted as a sponsor in various in-game virtual assets" (MSE).
