Rangers' Leibman Takes COO Role, To Oversee Construction Projects

The MLB Rangers have installed co-Owner NEIL LEIBMAN as COO, assuming a role held until '13 by RICK GEORGE, who left to become Colorado AD, according to Gerry Fraley of the DALLAS MORNING NEWS. Leibman has served as Chair since the spring of '13. He now will "oversee revenue and business operations areas," but he is "not expected to have a voice in the baseball operation." Rangers co-Chair RAY DAVIS said that the club "needed a COO to coordinate the three major construction projects" that are underway in Arlington -- Texas Live!, a luxury hotel and the Globe Life Field, scheduled to open in '20. Leibman is an "original member of the ownership group that purchased the Rangers" in August '10, and a member of MLB's Diversity and Int'l committees (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 4/7).
