Swimmer Katie Ledecky Chooses Wasserman For Representation

Ledecky said she chose Wasserman because of the agency's experience repping prominent womenGETTY IMAGES

Gold Medal-winning swimmer Katie Ledecky has "chosen Wasserman to manage her," and her representation "will be led" by Dan Levy and Lindsay Kagawa Colas, according to Ben Fischer of SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL. Sources said that Ledecky "evaluated all of the major agencies before choosing Wasserman." Ledecky said that she "chose Wasserman because of the agency’s experience representing prominent women" like former USWNT player Abby Wambach, USWNT F Alex Morgan and U.S. hockey F Hilary Knight. Ledecky is "expected to compete in at least three more Olympics -- which happen to be set for the sponsor-friendly markets" of Tokyo, Paris and L.A. Experts said that her portfolio for the '20 Tokyo Games "could easily reach" $3M. Levy said that the "first task is to sign a swimwear and apparel deal" (SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL, 4/2 issue). Levy said that Ledecky's strategy will be "deliberate," and she "doesn't need to race to build a huge business portfolio right away." Levy: "We feel we have the luxury -- and Katie feels this way, too -- in being very strategic and trying to put together a plan first and then find the right partner companies that fit what she wants to do moving forward." In DC, Rick Maese notes Ledecky "can seek long-term deals, perhaps looking for companies that might want to stick with her for the next Olympic cycle as well" (WASHINGTONPOST.com, 4/2).
