Data Shows Valspar Saw Big Returns During PGA Tour Telecasts

The 200 brands that aligned themselves with last week's PGA Tour Valspar Championship telecasts generated 1.3 billion TV impressions in U.S. households across national linear (live and time-shifted), VOD, OTT and local TV -- nearly 1 billion more than the 275 brands that advertised during the '17 event on NBC and Golf Channel, according to data from iSpot.tv. Valspar led this year's exposure, generating 83.3 million impressions, up from 12 million in ‘17. Ace Hardware, last year's exposure leader for the event’s Thursday-Sunday telecasts, aired nearly four times as many commercials than Valspar did this year, but garnered about three-quarters less exposure than the paint brand did last week. Valspar debuted two spots during this year’s telecasts, each created by Havas Worldwide, N.Y. A 15-second spot, “Game of Golf,” aired 30 times. A 30-second spot called “Look Good” aired 40 times. One-hundred percent of the $2.4M that Valspar has spent on TV ads since the beginning of the ‘16-17 PGA Tour season has been earmarked for golf telecasts.
