Pac-12 Networks Readies Future Media Rights Plan With New Hire

Meyers will help adjust and adapt Pac-12 content to prepare for the next iteration of rights agreementsSports Video Group

Pac-12 Networks named former Time Warner Cable Sports VP/Content LARRY MEYERS to the newly created position of Exec VP/Content & Exec Producer. Meyers, who has over 20 years of experience in the sports media industry, also previously served as Tennis Channel Senior VP/Production and Exec Producer. Pac-12 Networks also promoted Head of Digital Content SAM SILVERSTEIN to VP/Editorial (Pac-12 Networks). Pac-12 Networks President MARK SHUKEN said that one of Meyers' "main tasks will be to set the conference and its network up" for when its media rights deals with ESPN and Fox Sports end in the spring of '23. Shuken: "Larry's job will be to adjust and adapt our content to prepare for the next iteration of rights agreements. ... We hired him to align our team and align our vision with that." SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL's John Ourand in this week's issue writes that means "combining the linear television group with the digital group so that both operate as one group." Shuken said that these moves will "benefit the conference the next time its media rights come up, a time when he expects digital media companies such as Facebook, Amazon and Google to be more interested in picking up rights" (SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL, 3/5 issue).
