NFL Looking To Bring On Exec To Run Gaming/Esports

The NFL is hiring a head of gaming and esports to lead “strategic planning, partner management and execution” in its initiatives involving EA Sports’ “Madden NFL” title and all other gaming opportunities, according to a LinkedIn posting. The job, a director-level position, will be in charge of maintaining current partnerships and developing new lines of business in both casual gaming and competitive esports. So far, the NFL’s esports efforts have been modest compared to the NBA’s, culminating this past season with the Madden NFL Club Championship on ESPN. But league officials promise a bigger play is in the works. An NFL spokesperson could not be reached for comment on the job posting.
