A's Move Corporate Offices To Downtown Oakland, Keeping Gameday Ops At Coliseum

The A's today are "moving to downtown Oakland" under a previously announced plan to consolidate their offices at Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum and Oracle Arena into a 40,000-square-foot space in Jack London Square, according to Henry Schulman of the S.F. CHRONICLE. A's President Dave Kaval said it is a move to "evolve our office culture." Schulman noted the A's will "maintain offices at the Coliseum" for gameday operations (S.F. CHRONICLE, 1/6). In Oakland, Gary Peterson noted with the move comes a "new call to arms." A team in a statement said, "As the club moves into a new chapter in Oakland, the organization has defined a clear vision for achieving goals for the future by unveiling new internal guiding pillars: innovative, dynamic and inclusive. These pillars, along with a new motto, ‘Victory for Oakland,’ will help guide the organization in everything they do.” Peterson wrote of the new motto, "What gives there? It was less than one year ago that the A’s debuted a new motto, 'Rooted in Oakland.' You didn’t have to guess at the deeper meaning: 'Trust us, we’re staying put.'" Peterson: "Now it’s 'Victory for Oakland'? What, has 'Rooted' been designated for assignment?" (EASTBAYTIMES.com, 1/8).
