Blues, St. Louis Comptroller Reach Settlement After Dispute Over Scottrade Center Upgrades

A settlement has been "reached in the monthslong legal battle" between the Blues and the St. Louis Comptroller, who refused to "sign the financial agreement funding the city's commitment to Scottrade Center renovations," according to Celeste Bott of the ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH. St. Louis Comptroller Darlene Green said that she was "hesitant to issue" the $64M in bonds for the arena upgrades because she "feared it would hurt the city's credit rating." Kiel Center Partners, which owns the Blues, "filed a lawsuit" in August. The settlement agreement announced Friday "doesn't change the city's payment obligations under the initial financing agreement, which enable the city to offset payments with revenues outside of the general revenue fund." All parties will "pay their own attorneys' fees and costs" (ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH, 1/6).
