NFL Wild Card Host Teams Start Rolling Out Local Sponsor Activation Plans

The quartet of NFL teams hosting Wild Card games this weekend are finalizing sponsor activations, but some early plans include the ubiquitous playoff rally towel, as well as pep rallies/parties. Some teams are hosting their first playoff games in decades. The Chiefs host the Titans on Saturday afternoon in the opening playoff game, and grocer Hy-Vee is presenting sponsor of both the game and the team's postseason. Rally towels -- half white and half red -- will include the taglines “Fear Nothing” and “Attack Everything,’’ along with sponsor ID from HyVee, Bud Light, Hiland Dairy and CommunityAmerica Credit Union. Chiefs VP/Business Development VP Tyler Epp said HyVee also gets incremental social, digital, broadcast and outdoor ad inventory. CommunityAmerica will continue its seasonlong “Red Friday’’ promotion with an event including six other additional sponsors. Saturday night in L.A., the Rams are hosting the Falcons in the first playoff game at L.A. Coliseum since '79. Hyundai is the game sponsor and will have its brand on rally towels, along with incremental social/digital and videoboard features. Bud Light is supporting with an outdoor congratulatory campaign.

SUNDAY TICKET: The Jaguars are hosting the Bills on Sunday afternoon in what will be the first home playoff game at EverBank Field since '00 -- which was also the last time the Bills appeared in the playoffs. Jags President Mark Lamping said sponsors are staging various “rolling rallies” throughout the community this week, with branded vehicles making 8-12 stops daily. Dunkin' Donuts, Firehouse Subs and Bud Light are sponsors. A pep rally is planned for tomorrow at Daily’s Place, a new entertainment venue next to EverBank Field, which will be sponsored by the City of Jacksonville and Daily’s. Jacksonville-based Firehouse Subs is presenting sponsor of the game. Rally towels will be sponsored by EverBank, Firehouse, insurance brand US Assure and Massage Envy. Having uncovered and sold 3,500 seats normally covered with advertising tarps, Lamping is predicting a crowd “close to 70,000.’’ The final Wild Card game -- Panthers-Saints at Mercedes-Benz Superdome -- will see poultry producer Sanderson Farms sponsor rally towels for the Saints. Other sponsor activities include an on-field “Coca-Cola Cash Catch" at halftime.
