Teneo Sports Co-President Terrence Burns Leaving To Open Consulting Shop

Teneo Sports co-President TERRENCE BURNS is leaving the agency to open his own consulting shop, TBurns Sports Group. Burns, one of the world’s leading Olympic bid consultants, has been at Teneo since '13. He has worked for bids for L.A., Boston, Almaty and Pyeongchang, among many others. “Sometimes it’s just time to go out on your own,” he said. “Teneo probably wants a different focus on sports, away from bidding, and some of the stuff that I do.” With fewer cities interested in hosting the Olympics and the IOC moving away from open competition, the bid consulting industry is at an inflection point with demand decreasing. “It’s changing a bit, but I think what I do for bids will always be there,” Burns said. “That’s helping them tell the story. I don’t do lobbying, or technical analysis. I tell a story, and I think they’ll always need that, irrespective of the process.” Burns’ departure comes two months after Teneo Holdings Managing Dir for Sports JOHN SHEA left the company to become Jimmy John’s CMO. Teneo Global President ANDY ANSON declined to comment.
