USA Gymnastics Creates Position Dedicated To Prevent Sexual Abuse Of Athletes

USA Gymnastics has hired TOBY STARK as its first Dir of Safe Sport, entrusting her with the key internal position dedicated to preventing sexual abuse of athletes. The embattled NGB has also hired MARK BUSBY as a new in-house legal counsel specifically dedicated to abuse matters. Stark prior to joining USA Gymnastics was Exec Dir of Chaucie’s Place, an Indianapolis-area nonprofit charged with preventing child sex abuse and youth suicide. Busby was a Marion County prosecutor for 14 years, where he tried sex abuse prosecutions, before entering private practice in '13. Both join the organization on the heels of an internal report recommending a comprehensive culture change and numerous policy changes. USA Gymnastics has been accused of not doing enough to prevent abuse of athletes; former team doctor LARRY NASSAR faces numerous charges of abuse.
