Street League Skateboarding Brings On CJ Olivares To Run Outfit, As Well As OTT Service

The founders of Street League Skateboarding (SLS) have hired former Fuel TV Founder & co-CEO CJ OLIVARES to become CEO of both the league and its affiliated OTT subscription streaming service, ETN. SLS co-Founder BRIAN ATLAS, who had been serving as President & COO, will now lead SLS Founder ROB DYRDEK’s venture studio and investment arm, Dyrdek Machine. Olivares had consulted with SLS before its '10 founding, and rekindled conversations after he left Every Day Networks in December. "What I saw with the team at Street League and ETN is really putting a priority on [ETN], not making it an adjunct to the business, and really looking at the media side of the business as the center of the business,” Olivares said. The dual titles will tap on his experience in event operations as well as media strategy. “His high-level media background, mixed with his event and programming experience in skateboarding and beyond, makes him uniquely suited to lead the platform into the future,” Atlas said. ETN was founded earlier this year by the investors in SLS and other backers. In May, SLS announced that ETN would be the only place to view the SLS Nike SB World Tour live, though it signed a replay and highlights deal with ESPN2/ABC.
