MLB Franchise Notes: Pirates Unveil Ballpark Pass For Home Games From June-Sept.

In Pittsburgh, Alex Iniguez notes the Pirates have unveiled a subscription service that will "allow fans to enter all home games from June through September for $29.99 per month." The Pirates Ballpark Pass "charges the user a flat fee for one standing-room only ticket to as many games at PNC Park as he or she would like." Potential postseason games "are not included in the pass." There are standing room areas "scattered throughout PNC Park." Each subscription "adds a ticket sold to the Pirates’ attendance number for each of the remaining games on the schedule" (PITTSBURGH POST-GAZETTE, 5/23).

NICE GUYS
: The D-backs recently unveiled their "Ballpark Summer Pass" program, and in Phoenix, EJ Montini wrote the team "came up with a terrific ticket deal for summer," though even a "great bargain is not a bargain for those who can't afford it." As such, Montini and fellow Arizona Republic sportswriter Dan Bickley are "going to put up enough" money to buy fans 10 passes. Montini noted interested fans should send him an email "explaining why you or someone you know should get one or more" (AZCENTRAL.com, 5/22).

DRINK WISCONSINIBLY: In Milwaukee, Kathy Flanigan notes Brewers 1B Eric Thames and Ps Corey Knebel and Oliver Drake visited a MillerCoors pilot brewery yesterday to "help create a signature beer for Miller Park." When the beer is finished and kegged, the 10 to 20 barrels of yet-to-be-named limited-edition beer "will be shared with fans at a special Miller Park theme night," likely in August. Fans will be able to "purchase a ticket for the game that includes a chance to taste the beer that maybe wasn't brewed by those Brewers but heavily influenced by them" (MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL, 5/23).
