Arenacross '16 Schedule Features Nine New Cities, Number Of Events Cut By One

Feld Motor Sports released its schedule today for the '16 AMSOIL Arenacross season, a tour that will hit nine new cities while cutting the overall length from 15 weekends to 14. Last year’s tour showed substantial increases in attendance, said Feld Entertainment VP Bill Powell. Feld expects increased ticket prices and continued attendance gains to offset the revenue lost by having one fewer tour stop next year. Execs are hoping to build on last year’s momentum by conducting a strategic evaluation of the property’s marketing, branding and live-event production tactics during the offseason. “After the season, we thought: Could we put a better customer experience down on the floor?” Powell said. “As well as how do we rebrand arenacross? Those are the things we’re looking at now, and we’ve come up with some incredible initial concepts.” They expect to announce new details of their work closer to the start of the season. Powell said Feld also is hoping to approach its venue-scouting more strategically and lock up multiyear deals to set schedules farther in advance. They are closely analyzing which markets have responded best to the sport, which consists of dirt-track motorcycle racing on compact courses built on arena-sized footprints.
