Vikings' New Stadium To Feature Club Space Catered Toward Fantasy Football Fans

The new Vikings stadium will feature a seating area "known as Club Purple, complete with sofa-type seating and 4K-resolution televisions aimed at attracting fantasy football fans," according to Mike Kaszuba of the Minneapolis STAR TRIBUNE. With the stadium halfway complete, team officials "stressed that premium seats and suites were selling above expectations." The Vikings said that the areas "would be offered to the general public beginning April 30." Team officials added that 91 of the stadium’s 131 suites "have been sold." The team had $97M in "commitments from the sale of stadium seat licenses," and roughly 75% of the 37,000 stadium seat licenses "had been sold." Vikings officials said that 80% of the seat licenses "were $3,000 or less, and that roughly 10,000 licenses were $1,000 or less" (Minneapolis STAR TRIBUNE, 4/23). Team officials said that they are "still on pace to sell out the remaining" 12,000 stadium builder's licenses and raise another $28M "before the Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority caps the sales." In Minneapolis, Nick Halter noted the Vikings "will have to lure new buyers who didn't want seats at the Metrodome or TCF Bank Stadium" to reach those goals, because all existing season-ticket holders "have already been offered an SBL." The Vikings "will ramp up efforts to sell SBLs April 30 by hosting prospective buyers at its preview center near the Minneapolis stadium" site during the NFL Draft (BIZJOURNALS.com, 4/22).
