PVH’s Van Heusen apparel brand is rolling out its latest "Institute of Style" campaign, in which consumers can enter a Facebook promotion to win a weeklong internship with Pro Football HOFer Steve Young, who has been a Van Heusen endorser for several years. Consumers enter by sending a photo illustrating their personal style, along with an “elevator pitch," on why they deserve the internship. The promotion will be supported by broadcast, print and digital ads (Terry Lefton, Editor-At-Large).

A GOOD PAIR: Kentucky Speedway and Quaker State officials on Saturday announced terms of a five-year sponsorship renewal for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race title sponsor. The speedway's retaining walls will be painted in Quaker State's signature green and gold colors, and the '14 Quaker State 400 presented by Advance Auto Parts will be held Saturday, June 28 (Kentucky Speedway).

SOLE SINGING: In Boston, Mark Murphy noted Celtics G Rajon Rondo is having his "first signature sneaker" designed by China-based company Anta, and it is entitled the "RR1." Rondo also is "launching his own Anta apparel line" (BOSTON HERALD, 10/9).

LOOKING TO MAKE AN IMPACT: CNBC's Becky Quick noted China-based smartphone maker ZTE hopes a deal to sponsor the Rockets can "boost its brand recognition in the United States." ZTE CEO Lixin Cheng indicated that the "company has long been looking to build a connection with the U.S. public" with ZTE "sponsoring a game between" the Rockets and Pacers in Taipei. However, Quick noted some U.S. lawmakers "have suggested that the company could be a security threat" ("Squawk Box," CNBC, 10/14).
