Marlins Attendance Down 36% While Pirates Remain Flat At PNC Park Despite Record

Strong gains at the gate by the Nationals, Braves, Reds and Dodgers this season have been offset by sharp drops for the Marlins, Phillies and Cubs. The Dodgers have a comfortable lead over all MLB clubs in average attendance, with the gate at Chavez Ravine up nearly 10% through Aug. 12. Despite disappointing in the standings, the Nationals are seeing the biggest jump among NL clubs (+11%). The Marlins sophomore season at their new ballpark continues to be a struggle, with average attendance down 36%. Attendance at PNC Park is relatively flat for Pirates games, despite the team sitting atop the NL Central. The chart below lists team-by-team attendance for the NL through Aug. 12, with comparisons to the same period last season. See yesterday's issue for AL figures (THE DAILY).
