UNCC Unveils Seat License Plan For Proposed Football Team

UNCC Unveils Two-Tiered Football
Seat License Plan
The Univ. of North Carolina-Charlotte (UNCC) has announced "details for the Football Seat License (FSL) packages" designed to help build a stadium for the school's proposed football program, according to Stan Olson of the CHARLOTTE OBSERVER. The FSLs offer "two primary tiers of seating, Green and Gold," with Green Tier FSLs costing "$1,000 apiece for up to four tickets." Gold Tier FSLs "will be located between the 30-yard lines," and those FSLs "are $2,500 apiece, and do require a minimum annual contribution to [UNCC's] athletic foundation of $1,500, beginning in the 2013 fiscal year." There are "expected to be 5,500 Green Tier Seats and 1,800 Gold Tier Seats in the on-campus stadium, which has 15,000 total seats planned," and there "will also be 2000 White Gold Seats, which will sell primarily to corporations -- although individuals may participate -- as part of major gift opportunities within the capital campaign." Olson notes UNCC, which "hopes to begin play in the fall of 2013," has received subscriptions "for a total of about 5,400 tickets, from 2,078 individual applicants" (CHARLOTTE OBSERVER, 1/29). The CHARLOTTE BUSINESS JOURNAL's Erik Spanberg reported UNCC today "kicks off its seat-license campaign with brochures, e-mails and a Web site targeting 5,400 people who have already expressed interest in supporting" the team. UNCC Chancellor Phil Dubois "set a target date of June 30 for securing 5,000 seat-license commitments, a target the athletic department considers doable despite the floundering economy" (BIZJOURNALS.com, 1/28).
