Anheuser-Busch To Ramp Up Presence On NFL Broadcasts

Anheuser-Busch Using Team Emblems
On Cases For First Time
Anheuser-Busch during the upcoming NFL season will increase its TV advertising during games and use team emblems on cases of Budweiser and Bud Light for the first time, according to Gregory Cancelada of the ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH. Coors is the official beer of the league, but A-B’s new cases roll out Monday in the home markets of 27 of the 28 teams sponsored by A-B. The company’s deal with the Steelers does not allow the use of the team’s emblem on packaging. In addition, while A-B will not “increase the number of advertising spots” on ABC’s “MNF,” it is “looking to expand its presence during other game broadcasts.” A-B VP/Global Media & Sports Marketing Tony Ponturo declined to say how much the company spends on NFL advertising, but said that the dollar amount this season “should be [10-15%] higher than last year” (ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH, 8/19).
