Halo Effect: Angels Near TV Deal That Will See 140 Games Air

The Angels “are close to completing a [TV] schedule in which a total of 140 games would air” on FSN West, KCAL-Ind and KDOC-Ind, according to Bill Shaikin of the L.A. TIMES. FSN West announced a 50-game broadcast schedule on Monday, while KCAL, which will drop the Angels after this season and add the Dodgers, has also agreed to carry 50 games including one exhibition. The Angels are “expected to arrange for 40 more games to air on” on KDOC. Ten games are scheduled for national broadcasts on ESPN or Fox. The club split last year’s broadcasts among five local stations, including KTLA-WB in English and KWHY-Ind in Spanish. Angels Senior VP/Sales & Marketing John Carpino indicated that the team has “no broadcasts planned this year on those stations or any other Spanish-language stations” (L.A. TIMES, 2/8).
