MEDIA NOTES

          TV MONITOR: Last night's 11:00pm ET edition of CNN/SI's
     "Sports Tonight" led with Jets-Colts, followed by Patriots-
     Bills.  The first non-NFL story on "Sports Tonight," at 7:31
     into the broadcast, was Pete Sampras beating Andre Agassi at
     the finals of the ATP World Championship in Germany.  The
     first NHL story, at 20:39, was Coyotes-Red Wings.  The
     11:00pm edition of FSN's "Primetime" led with Chiefs-
     Raiders, followed by Bucs-Seahawks.  The first non-NFL
     story, at 12:43, were details of a published report of
     Michael Jordan working out at a Chicago health club with a
     Bulls trainer.  The first NHL story, at 51:29, was Coyotes-
     Red Wings.  ESPN's 11:30pm edition of "SportsCenter," which
     aired at about 11:49pm due to Falcons-Panthers, led with
     Patriots-Bills, followed by Jets-Colts.  The first non-NFL
     story, at 9:45, was Pacers-Sonics.  The first NHL story, at
     18:52, was Coyotes-Red Wings (THE DAILY).
          NOTES: In N.Y., Andrew Marchand praises "One-on-One
     Sports" host Jay Mariotti's morning talk show.  Marchand:
     "On any topic, Mariotti gives an informed, straightforward
     opinion.  And the only agenda is you, the listener" (N.Y.
     POST, 11/29)....In Chicago, Ed Sherman calls Fox Sports
     Net's Marv Levy the TV "rookie of the year" in '99 (CHICAGO
     TRIBUNE, 11/29)....The Red Sox formally signed a three-year
     TV deal with WFXT-Fox.  Terms were not disclosed, but WFXT
     will air "at least 70 games" per season (BOSTON GLOBE,
     11/25)....NFL Films was at yesterday's Grey Cup filming
     footage.  Last year, NFL Films produced a three-minute video
     of the game that was used to highlight the league's '99
     kickoff (VANCOUVER SUN, 11/27)....CBS Sports President Sean
     McManus, asked when the ever-increasing TV rights deals for
     sports properties will end: "It ends when the deals stop
     making sense for the networks.  Except for when CBS got
     baseball [for $1B in '90], I don't remember a network saying
     they did a lousy deal" (CHICAGO TRIBUNE, 11/28)....Big Bad
     Voodoo Daddy performed in the studio of ESPN's "NFL
     Countdown" yesterday (THE DAILY).
