Boris Becker has signed a long-term deal to promote AOL
Germany. The partnership launches today and will be
supported by a heavy ad campaign in newspapers, magazines
and on TV (AOL). The WALL STREET JOURNAL's Neal Boudette
writes that with the deal, AOL Europe "hopes to win over new
users" by "tapping into" Becker's celebrity status in
Germany and the ad campaign "highlights" his lack of
Internet experience (WALL STREET JOURNAL, 10/6).
WEB AD: Famous Fixins announced yesterday that it has
reached an Internet marketing deal with SportsLine to run
banner advertisements on CBS SportsLine, including Web links
to the site's e-commerce area (Famous Fixins).
GLOBAL WARMING: Global Sports has partnered with Yahoo!
to have Global Sports' partners' Web sites featured on the
Yahoo! network of properties. Global Sports, which operates
e-commerce sites for sporting goods retailers such as The
Sports Authority, The Athlete's Foot and Sport Chalet, will
team up with Yahoo! to provide advertising and merchandising
for Yahoo!'s Sports and Recreation section (Global Sports).
