THE DREAM SHAKES BALLPARK PLANS: OLAJUWON LOT ACQUISITION

          The Port of Houston has "accelerated the sale" of the
     old World Trade Center, which sits on the block across from
     The Ballpark at Union Station, to Rockets C Hakeem Olajuwon
     and his cardiologist, according to John Williams of the
     HOUSTON CHRONICLE.  The move comes "against the wishes" of
     Houston Mayor Lee Brown and Harris County Judge Robert
     Eckels, both of whom have supported Harris County-Houston
     Sports Authority Chair Jack Rains' "vision to use the
     property for a park."  If the Sports Authority pursues the
     park plans, they will "have to condemn the property in a
     lawsuit against" Olajuwon, who is "considering" using the
     two buildings "for loft apartments or a hotel, with ground-
     level retail shops and restaurants" (HOU. CHRONICLE, 2/2).
