IT'S MILLER TIME: FORMER MLBPA HEAD CRITICIZES SELIG MEETING

          MLBPA Founder Marvin Miller said MLB Commissioner Bud
     Selig is "treading on dangerous grounds these days" in
     calling for an emergency meeting of owners and GMs for
     December 3 to discuss MLB's salary structure and market
     disparity, according to Marty York of the Toronto GLOBE &
     MAIL.  Miller: "My question is -- what's the emergency? 
     Baseball just had one of its best years in every way ....
     This is no time for Bud Selig and the owners to be wringing
     their hands. ... As a matter of fact, [Selig's] already gone
     over the line by calling a meeting.  This is clearly the
     beginning of conspiracy and collusion. ... You can decide as
     an owner that you will restrict your own payroll but you may
     not collude with any other owners to do so.  You'd think
     Selig would know that" (Toronto GLOBE & MAIL, 11/24).
