BREW CREW: In response to a Philadelphia Daily News
story yesterday that reported that beer vendors at Veteran's
Stadium advertise 18-ounce cups of beer, but only serve
customers 16 ounces, city officials have "vowed to send
inspectors" to the Vet "to test the beer themselves" (Don
Russell, PHILADELPHIA DAILY NEWS, 4/24). A DAILY NEWS
editorials says that, "If this city is going to rely on
tourists to revitalize the local economy, let's not cheat
them -- or residents either, for that matter -- at the hot-
dog stand or the beer tap" (PHILADELPHIA DAILY NEWS, 4/24).
NOTES: Orioles Owner Peter Angelos confirmed yesterday
that he "will not be involved in the purchase of the
Vikings." Angelos: "We talked about, but I'm not interested"
(ST. PAUL PIONEER PRESS, 4/24)....Multimillionaire Sy Syms
"offered to buy" the Yankees yesterday and keep the team in
the Bronx, if team Owner George Steinbrenner "decides to
move the ball club." Syms: "All I want to do is have the
Yankees stay in the Bronx. If Steinbrenner wants out, I'd be
capable of creating a combine that could buy the team" (N.Y.
TIMES, 4/24)....The MLS Clash will train for the remainder
of the season at the Morgan Hill (CA) Soccer Complex. The
team will move to Morgan Hill on May 1 (Clash)....The new
