THRASHERS HOPE TO IGNITE FLAME IN ATLANTA'S HOCKEY COMMUNITY

Some 2,000 people attended the NHL expansion Thrashers
logo unveiling at CNN Center yesterday in Atlanta, according
to Jeff Schultz of the ATLANTA CONSTITUTION. The logo
features a copper, bronze and gold caricature of a scowling
bird holding a hockey stick, with a blue background. Team
jerseys will not be available for "several weeks," and
ticket prices will be released in two weeks. Schultz adds
that the team's season ticket priority list "has topped"
9,100 (ATLANTA CONSTITUTION, 4/24). In Atlanta, Mark
Bradley reports that the team's average ticket price will be
$45. Bradley writes that "many may find that average ticket
price ... a tad daunting." The Trashers, who plan to hire a
GM in June, will begin play during the '99-2000 season
     (ATLANTA CONSTITUTION, 4/24).
