Marv Albert was last night's guest on CNN's "Larry King
Live," appearing with his attorney, Roy Black. Albert, on
the reasons behind his talk show tour: "I felt that I hadn't
had the opportunity to testify, to tell the truth, and I
want to be able to get the real story out there. And I know
there's been some criticism. ... [the shows reach] different
demographics, different people see the different shows."
Albert, on resuming his broadcasting career: "I think it'll
take a while. ... I'm still doing some work. Acclaim, the
video game company, has me as their voice of NBA Jam and the
NFL '98 Quarterback Club. ... I really appreciate their
loyalty." On talks with WFAN: "We had some long talks. ...
But, again, I have to really take a few steps back and wait
awhile." Albert: "I had this wonderful, perfect life. ...
And all of a sudden it's gone. And my hope is that some
form of that can be recaptured down the road" (CNN, 11/11).
AMONGST FRIENDS: Albert will be a guest of David
Letterman's on tonight's "Late Show." Letterman, previewing
the show: "It used to be, Marv would come on the show and
show the bloopers, and then, you know, go. Clearly, we've
been talking to him about all the wrong stuff" (CBS, 11/11).
NOTES: A S.F. CHRONICLE editorial states, "Marv Albert
is making the right stops, but with the wrong tone and sense
of timing. ... Albert seems to be moving a little too fast
and with a little too much calculation, even for this
celebrity-worshiping culture" (S.F. CHRONICLE, 11/12).
...Going against Albert's appearance last Friday on "20/20,"
MSG's Knicks-Lakers game drew the lowest rating this season.
Ratings from 10:30-11:30pm ET, the time Albert was
interviewed by Barbara Walters, were "as much" as 50% lower
than the overall number (CHARLOTTE OBSERVER, 11/12).
