TEAM MEDIA NOTES: WIZARDS, CAPS & O'S TO BE ON FREE TV LESS

In Washington, WBDC-TV and HTS announced a two-year deal
"that means" Washington area TV viewers "will see fewer
games" of the Wizards, Capitals and Orioles "on a free, over-
the-air basis," starting in '98, according to Leonard Shapiro
of the WASHINGTON POST. In '98, WBDC will carry 20 Wizards,
10 Caps and 60 Orioles games. In '99, the Wizards and Caps
games will remain the same, but the agreement calls for "at
least 50 Orioles games." Last season, WBDC aired 30
Bullets/Wizards games and 20 Caps games, and currently has 65
Orioles games on its schedule (WASHINGTON POST, 9/9).
M'S RENEW RADIO DEAL: The Mariners and Entercom Seattle
reached a five-year agreement for Mariners broadcasts to be
carried by KIRO 710-AM through the 2002 seasons. KIRO has
been the flagship station for the Mariners radio network
since '85 (Mariners). The team had been weighing offers from
three other stations (Tacoma NEWS TRIBUNE, 9/9).
