SI FOR KIDS DEBUTS THIS WEEK AND RUNS WITH GRANT HILL

The "Sports Illustrated For Kids Show," produced by
SITV, will premiere on CBS this Saturday at 11:00am ET/PT in
most markets. Grant Hill is the athlete guest host for the
inaugural show and co-host Eugene Byrd spends an afternoon at
the Joe Dumars Fieldhouse in Detroit with Hill (SITV). To
date, three episodes have been shot, according to Mike
Reynolds of MEDIAWEEK. SI for Kids publisher Cleary Simpson
lists Nike, Frito-Lay, Quaker and Hershey, "all longtime
sponsors of the magazine," among companies which have bought
ad time. Simpson adds that CBS "sold most of the inventory
during the upfront," but said, "we're talking about doing a
couple of things together in scatter." Reynolds: "Although
the primary readers of the magazines range from 8 to 14, the
show's viewers may skew younger." Simpson: "We think there
will be plenty of 6- and 7-year olds; you don't have the
reading (ability) issues" (MEDIAWEEK, 9/8 issue).
