BRANDWEEK NEWS & NOTES: TRUE VALUE ALL-STAR PROMO

          True Value and Coleman outdoor products will hold an
     on-site MLB All-Star Game promo, furnishing seat covers
     featuring both company logos, according to BRANDWEEK.  Other
     MLB sponsors will place coupons in the seat-cushion's
     pockets, similar to GTE's promo at this year's NCAA Final
     Four in Indianapolis.  Chicago-based Sports Partners
     coordinates the promos (BRANDWEEK, 5/12).
          NEWS & NOTES: The Broncos retained NJ-based Integrated
     Sports International (ISI) for market research in their
     pursuit for a new stadium. ISI will also be responsible for
     consultation on sponsorships and licensing....In a
     supplement previewing the '97 consumer goods market, Terry
     Lefton writes on the '97 athletic shoe category.  Lefton:
     "Is a slowdown imminent for the $7.4 billion athletic shoe
     market in the U.S. after years of healthy growth?  And if
     so, why?"  Bruce Blanke, partner in six Athlete's Foot
     stores in the New York City area: "I'm seeing a lot more
     interest in boots as an alternative for teens.  The hero
     (signature) shoes from Nike are moving well.  But under
     $100, they have not been as strong as past years.  That's
     scaring some people, but I still see Nike competing mainly
     with itself" (BRANDWEEK, 5/12).
