FOREVER YOUNG: NIKE TABS FORMER AMBASSADOR FOR OVERSEAS WORK

Nike has hired former U.N. Ambassador Andrew Young and
his GoodWords Int'l group to "review a new code of conduct
for the shoe and apparel company's overseas factories,"
according to an AP report in the ARIZONA REPUBLIC. Young
will "evaluate" Nike's overseas factory working conditions
code of conduct, developed in '92, and "see whether
subcontractors are complying" (AP/ARIZONA REPUBLIC, 2/25).
NIKETOWN AD ACCOUNT: Nike yesterday placed in review
the ad account for its NikeTown chain, which has been
handled for 18 months by the Leap Partnership unit of the
Leap Group, Chicago. Nike spokesperson McClain Ramsey said
Leap would be included in the review, but declined to
"identify other participants." Competitive Media Reporting
notes ad spending for NikeTown was "slightly less" than $1M
last year (Jerry Schwartz, N.Y. TIMES, 2/25).
