IS FORMULA ONE SPONSORSHIP THE POSITIVE SPIN TEXACO NEEDS?

          Texaco will become a sponsor of the Stewart Formula One
     team beginning with the '97 Formula One racing season.  The
     sponsorship will be based on the company's "Proof of
     Performance" advertising campaign.  Texaco, along with its
     Caltex affiliate, will become the exclusive supplier of
     fuels and lubricants for the Stewart team, founded by three-
     time Formula One World Champion Jackie Stewart and his son,
     Paul.  Texaco, Caltex and Havoline logos will be on the
     team's cars, and Havoline Formula3 motor oils and other
     Texaco products will be used in them (Texaco).
