     NHL Oilers Owner PETER POCKLINGTON has reportedly made a
C$27.7M bid on behalf of his private holding company, Pocklington
Financial, to acquire full control of margarine producer Canbra
Foods, Ltd. of Alberta (Toronto GLOBE & MAIL, 10/30)....Virginia
consultant, THOMAS ARONSON, who is attempting to run the Foxboro,
MA harness track, admitted that he has "major financial backing"
from Patriots Owner ROBERT KRAFT.  Kraft, who owns the track, has
reportedly put up a $2M "backstop" line of credit (BOSTON HERALD,
10/29).... BOB COSTAS will be the Master of Ceremonies at the
21st Annual All Sports Hall of Fame Dinner to benefit the Boys'
Club of New York tonight in New York at the Waldorf-Astoria.  NBC
Sports President DICK EBERSOL will be honored as the Harriman
Award winner (Boys Club).
