STADIUM NOTES

     The group Neighbors of Dodgers Stadium has 2,000 petition
signatures objecting to a proposed football stadium near Dodger
Stadium (L.A. TIMES, 6/10)....Plans for a $84M arena next to the
Superdome has survived an attempt to kill it in the LA
Legislature and is set for bidding (N.O. TIMES-PICAYUNE,
6/8)....The NJSEA has begun lining up buyers for $350,000 luxury
suites at Giants Stadium for the '98 NFL season (Bergen RECORD,
6/10)....The USTA reports structural work on a new stadium at the
USTA Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, NY, is complete and that
the facility is scheduled to open before the '97 U.S. Open
(TENNIS, 7/96 issue).... Bengals President Mike Brown is not
interested in a stadium downtown and reiterated that a riverfront
site is the only option (Baltimore SUN, 6/11)....D.C. Sports
Commission officials met yesterday with two groups seeking an MLB
team.  They hope to decide by the end of June whether to
authorize a stadium feasibility study (WASHINGTON POST, 6/11).
