WARRIORS NAME DESIGN TEAM FOR ARENA RECONSTRUCTION

Warriors and Oakland/Alameda County officials have chosen
Tudor-Saliba and HNTB Corp. as the design team for a redesigned
19,200-seat Oakland Coliseum Arena scheduled to open September
'97. The firms are already working together on the renovation of
the L.A. Coliseum. Final agreements will be signed at the end of
this month and the arena will meet the original projection of
$90M. Warriors Owner Chris Cohan said the arena will include
3,000 preferred and 1,100 courtside seats and 72 luxury suites,
and that about half the seats will carry PSLs, the cost of which
would be determined in January (Glenn Dickey, S.F. CHRONICLE,
6/11).
CRITICAL MASS: Carl Steward of the OAKLAND TRIBUNE writes
that Warriors "fans can be assured a good portion of the $90M
cost will be passed on to them" from PSLs, the costs of which are
unknown. He notes the Warriors will be "a year behind the
Raiders in that aggressive quest for the critical corporate
sports dollars" (OAKLAND TRIBUNE, 6/11).
