CITY OF CELEVELAND GETS INJUNCTION PREVENTING BROWNS MOVE

The city of Cleveland won a "major victory" in its bid to
keep the Browns on Friday when a Cuyahoga County judge granted
the city a preliminary injunction against a move, according to
the Akron BEACON JOURNAL. The order prevents the Browns from
playing any home games away from Cleveland Stadium until the
issue of the team's lease is settled in a full trial before Judge
Kenneth Callahan (Arnie Rosenberg, Akron BEACON JOURNAL, 11/25).
The city, represented by Squire Sanders & Dempsey, seeks
"specific performance" in terms of damages for breaking the
stadium lease, according to PLAIN DEALER columnist Brent Larkin.
That would require a finding the Browns are a "unique property
whose loss cannot be adequately compensated by money." Jones Day
Reavis & Pogue represents the Browns (PLAIN DEALER, 11/26).
