THE NAME GAME: THEY'RE PLAYING IT IN MINNESOTA AS WELL

The efforts to sell the naming rights to the Hubert H.
Humphrey Metrodome will step up today when the Metropolitan
Sports Facilities Commission hears recommendations from its
marketing committee on such a plan, according to Jay Weiner in
the Minneapolis STAR-TRIBUNE. Weiner notes the move to drop
Hubert H. Humphrey's name from the 13-year-old facility and add a
corporate identity "could garner at least $1 million a year."
Peggy Lucas, chair of the commission's marketing committee, said
any plan would have to have "total concurrence and cooperation"
of the Twins and Vikings. The money generated would be dedicated
to improvements to the Metrodome. Weiner notes Humphrey's family
has not given approval to a change, and as it would require
legislative approval, votes would be "difficult to come by"
without a family endorsement (Minneapolis STAR-TRIBUNE, 11/15).
