WARRIORS ASKING THE OAKLAND COLISEUM BOARD FOR MORE TIME

With the deadline today for the Warriors to renew their
lease with the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum, the team plans to
ask the Coliseum Board for an extension until December 31,
according to this morning's S.F. CHRONICLE. The team is engaged
in "intensive discussions" with East Bay officials to refurbish
the Coliseum. Under the present plan, the team would play next
year in an alternate site -- "most probably" the Cow Palace --
while the Coliseum is renovated, and then return to Oakland for
'97-98 (S.F. CHRONICLE, 11/15). In San Jose, Dennis Akizuki
notes that consultants are reviewing cost estimates and analyzing
revenue and ticket sales projections for the $140M project (SAN
JOSE MERCURY NEWS, 11/15).
