BOND SALE COMPLETE: DAVIS SEALS THE DEAL WITH OAKLAND

Al Davis paid for $31.9M in bonds, "sealing the deal" to
bring the Raiders back to Oakland, according to the SAN JOSE
MERCURY NEWS. In addition, Oakland Treasury Manager Jan Mazyck
said the city and county, acting jointly as the Oakland-Alameda
County Coliseum Authority, sold $187M in taxable bonds in order
to cover all costs for renovating the stadium and to provide
Davis with an "operating loan" -- both provisions of the deal to
move the team to Oakland. Officials hope to pay off bonds by
2007 if 80% of Coliseum PSLs are sold (Barry Witt, SAN JOSE
MERCURY NEWS, 9/13).
