former Raider HOWIE LONG has impressed the director of his
current film project "Broken Arrow" so much, the script has been
changed to keep Long's character from dying ("ET,"
7/27)....MICHAEL JORDAN starts shooting "Space Jam" on Tuesday
and "Entertainment Tonight" took a behind-the-scenes look at his
new commercial for Hanes ("Entertainment Tonight,"
7/27)....ARANTXA SANCHEZ VICARIO joined Jay Leno on the "Tonight
Show."  On the return of Monica Seles, "I think it is good.  It
will make more competition" (NBC, 7/27)....DAN RATHER will
reportedly host the televised closing ceremonies of the Boston
Garden in September (BOSTON HERALD, 7/28)....Saints Owner TOM
BENSON has withdrawn franchise applications for the NBA and AHL,
citing a desire to focus on the Saints (New Orleans TIMES-
PICAYUNE, 7/23).
