NISSAN DRIVING IN DIRECTION OF OLYMPIC SPONSORSHIP

     Nissan Motor Co. is in negotiations with Atlanta Olympic
officials to become the official "Foreign Light Truck" of the '96
Games.  Nissan Spokesperson Kathy Faith would not confirm an
agreement, but added that "things are heading into that
direction."  Faith said any announcement would come before the
end of July.  General Motors spokesperson Tom Klipstine said a
Nissan deal would not affect GM's sponsorship: "From our
standpoint, we got what we wanted" (Terris Harris, ATLANTA
CONSTITUTION, 6/28).
