Australia-Based PointsBet's U.S. Entry Brings Revenue, Jobs

The launch of Australia-based sportsbook PointsBet this week in Colorado, where it has made Denver its U.S. HQ, was a reminder that sports betting has not only provided a new revenue stream, but also an avenue of employment during a trying time. The company recently opened a 17,000-square-foot downtown Denver office that it anticipates will house more than 200 employees. PointsBet should carry a high profile in the market, thanks to exclusive sportsbook sponsorship deals with Kroenke Sports & Entertainment and the Univ. of Colorado.

With furloughs and layoffs hitting hard across sports and media, PointsBet has seen a rush of job applicants hoping to join its expanding staff. "The candidate pool is coming from all angles," said Eric Foote, who joined PointsBet USA as chief commercial officer in January from CBS Sports. "We are seeing a high interest from professional and college sports; folks who have worked across those verticals."
