English Football League Attendances Hit 60-Year High

Attendances for English Football League matches "soared" to a 60-year high this season, as more than 18.3 million supporters "went through the turnstiles" in the League Championship, League One and League Two, an average of more than 11,000 per game. It marked the "highest total since the advent" of the EPL in '92 and the highest in those three tiers since '58-59, when attendances topped 18.8 million. Sunderland recorded the largest EFL crowd, with 46,039 at its League One fixture against Bradford City on Boxing Day. League Championship side Aston Villa drew eight of the 10 biggest crowds across the three divisions, with an average of 36,026 (London DAILY MAIL, 5/9).
