NFL Wants To Invite Vaccinated Health Care Workers To SB LV

The NFL is working on a plan to invite vaccinated health care workers to Super Bowl LV in Tampa, where they will be celebrated and thanked as part of the game, Commissioner Roger Goodell told the Tampa host committee. In a letter obtained by THE DAILY, Goodell said the league also wants to use the occasion “to promote the importance of vaccinations and appropriate health practices, including wearing masks in public settings,” he wrote to Tampa Bay Sports Commission Exec Dir Rob Higgins. The plan is subject to the approval and input from public health officials, he said.

The NFL is currently planning on having Raymond James Stadium at about 20% capacity for the game, or about 16,000 people. But those figures were developed before the vaccine was approved, and the public health risk could be reconsidered if large numbers of people in attendance have been vaccinated.
