MLB Partners With Snap For AR Features Within Ballpark App

MLB

MLB has partnered with Snap to bring an augmented reality feature to the MLB Ballpark app in time for the World Series. Through the app's Camera Kit integration, fans can interact with eight different lenses that feature the Rays, Dodgers and Globe Life Field. For instance, fans can use the AR to depict themselves in the crowd at the series, or on a digital replica of the ballpark's video board. Snap has been curating MLB-specific stories throughout the postseason and creating a weekly Top 10 MLB Highlight show, which continues during the Fall Classic (THE DAILY).

MLB Chief Operations & Strategy Officer Chris Marinak said of the Snap partnership and similar efforts going forward, “What we’re going to emphasize for next year is continued growth of new products and features on digital platforms to allow our fans to create a sense of community” (ADWEEK.com, 10/20).
