NFLPA extends deadline for CBA vote to Saturday....Tom Brady's new production company plans 3D football film....DraftKings offers student debt sweepstakes tied to March Madness

NFLPA Pushes Back Deadline For CBA Voting To Saturday

The NFLPA board of player reps today voted to "extend the deadline for voting" on the proposed CBA to Saturday at 11:59pm ET. The change from the previous deadline of Thursday at 11:59pm ET gives players "more time to digest the 456-page proposed CBA." Player rep meetings are ongoing in Key Biscayne, Fla., and this afternoon's decision came after "what was described by one source as 'lively' and intense discussions" on the labor deal. The new deadline "still allows enough time for the CBA, if passed, to be enacted by the start of the legal free-agent tampering period on March 16." The NFLPA will elect a new president tomorrow (ESPN.com, 3/9).

Tom Brady Launching Film Company 199 Productions

Tom Brady is launching 199 Productions, a "global multi-platform content company to develop original premium content including documentaries, feature films and television shows." The company has "quietly assembled a slate of development projects that include several with Brady on camera, in stories spanning sports, entertainment and health and wellness." Brady partnered with "Avengers: Endgame" directors Joe and Anthony Russo and their AGBO Films’ non-fiction group, Wonderburst, to produce the 3D documentary "Unseen Football." The QB named the company in a "not-so-subtle nod to where he was drafted" by the Patriots (DEADLINE.com, 3/9).

DraftKings Ties Student Debt Sweepstakes To March Madness Pool

By Bill King

A DraftKings free-to-play March Madness survivor pool that awards a $250,000 grand prize also will enter participants in a sweepstakes to have up to $100,000 of undergraduate student debt forgiven. The pool, which opens play at noon ET on March 19, requires entrants to pick one winner per day, through the end of the tournament. As is typical in survivor pools, entrants may pick a school only once. All entrants who have earned a bachelor’s degree and carry qualifying student debt can enter the sweepstakes, which will pay off four winners chosen randomly, regardless of their survivor pool performance.

“We’re trying to bring awareness to a really important issue that over the last 25 years has really exploded in the U.S.,” said DraftKings co-Founder & President/North America Matt Kalish, who was the first member of his family to attend college. “Student debt is now up to $1.5 trillion. DraftKings is doing well, but we can’t cover all of that 1.5 trillion. What we can do, though, is build awareness of the issue.”

In addition, each Kentucky Oaks and Derby horse owner will "receive a Ford Explorer to use during the event" (BIZJOURNALS.com, 3/9).

Titans' AFC South Rivals Pitch In For Tornado Relief

The Texans, Colts and Jaguars have "joined together to show support for the Titans and those affected by the recent tornadoes in Tennessee" by giving a "joint donation of $100,000 to the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee" (PROFOOTBALLTALK.com, 3/9).

Meanwhile, players for both Nashville SC and the Timbers during last night's game in Portland "wore badges on their jerseys with the initials NGUOY, for Never Give Up On You." The jerseys were to be "auctioned after the game with the proceeds going" to the tornado recovery effort (AP, 3/9).
