Viewership Down For Both NFL Conference Title Games

Fox drew 42.7 million viewers for the 49ers’ win over the Packers last night in the NFC Championship, down from just over 44 million viewers for the net’s Rams-Saints game last year in the afternoon window, which saw a controversial finish in OT. But this year’s game is up from 42.3 million for Eagles-Vikings two years ago. The 42.7 million viewers marks TV’s best audience since last year’s Super Bowl. Meanwhile, CBS drew 41.1 million viewers for the Chiefs’ win over the Titans, marking the least-viewed AFC Championship game since Steelers-Ravens drew 40.6 million in '09. Last year, Patriots-Chiefs drew 53.9 million viewers in a game that also went to OT.

49ers-Packers drew a 48.2 local rating in Milwaukee and a 42.6 rating in S.F./San Jose/Oakland. For Chiefs-Titans, CBS drew a strong 55.7 local rating in K.C. and a 46.0 rating in Nashville.
