Harris Blitzer Dissolves Partnership Around NWHL Riveters

Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment is dissolving its relationship with the NWHL around its partnership with the Metropolitan Riveters. The deal was signed in October ’17 and represented the first time an NHL team partnered in the business of an NWHL team. It saw the Devils and HBSE cross-promoted and share resources with the Riveters, as well as host Riveters games at the Devils’ practice facility adjacent to Prudential Center. Unlike the relationship among Pegula Sports & Entertainment, the Buffalo Beauts and the NWHL, which the Pegulas ended on May 8, HBSE did not own and operate the Riveters.

A Devils spokesperson said in a statement, “recognizing the current landscape, we believe the best way to support the future of women’s hockey is by reallocating our resources to focus strategically on grassroots initiatives that positively impact female youth hockey players in our area, while leveraging our resources to train, support and develop women’s hockey players competing at the highest levels.”
