Boston Globe Sports Writer Nick Cafardo Dies At Age 62

Boston Globe baseball columnist Nick Cafardo died today while covering Red Sox Spring Training in Fort Myers, Fla. Cafardo, 62, was at the ballpark on his day off when he was "apparently stricken by an embolism." He joined the paper in '89 and "established himself as one of Boston’s most prominent sports reporters." He also had a stint covering the Patriots and authored the '02 book, "The Impossible Team: The Worst to First Patriots’ Super Bowl Season" (BOSTONGLOBE.com, 2/21).
